Seeking Executive Director of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA)

The ASHBA seeks an Executive Director to oversee operations, champion our strategic mission, and drive impactful programs. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you’ll lead a dedicated team, manage fundraising efforts, and enhance public awareness of the American Saddlebred on behalf of its membership. A link to the Executive Director job description can be found here.

Key responsibilities include guiding organizational strategy, collaborating with the Board, overseeing horse registry operations, and fostering community engagement. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience, exceptional communication skills, a strong financial acumen, and a background in marketing or fundraising—preferably within the equine or nonprofit sectors.

A search committee has been formed to identify a qualified candidate for the Executive Director position. The committee, chaired by Joe O’Brien is comprised of Betsy Boone, Sandy Currier, Cece Hagan, Priscilla Marconi, and James Nichols. ASHBA Board President-elect Chris Schubert will also serve as a non-voting member of the committee. The group plans to interview top candidates in mid-December for recommendation to the Board.

If you're interested in joining us to ensure the American Saddlebred’s legacy for generations to come, please submit a cover letter recounting your relevant experience and the reasons you desire this position, as well as a resume, by Sunday, December 15. Submit your materials to jobs@saddlebred.com. All submissions will be confidential and all candidates are welcome.
