Anna Marie Knipp Becomes New Registry Council Chair

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) is honored to announce that Anna Marie Knipp is our inaugural Registry Council Chairperson.

Anna Marie Knipp, Jefferson City, Missouri has been a lifelong American Saddlebred owner, exhibitor, and breeder. A graduate of Stephens College with a degree in Business/Accounting, she manages and invests in commercial real estate properties as well as owning High Spirits Farm in Ashland, Missouri which is a 550 acre home to an American Saddlebred training, breeding, and boarding operation in addition to agricultural and event purposes.

Anna Marie is passionate about the impact improvements at an organizational level can have on our members and our breed, sharing, “Our #1 goal right now is to increase our efficiency and take responsibility for creating a better process to serve our members. If we can better serve our breeders, we can encourage more people to breed.”

Anna Marie while a lifelong enthusiast of the breed has been increasing her breeding operation immensely since moving her High Spirits Farm operations across from Dr. Foss’s Equine Medical Services. This move made breeding more convenient, productive, and accessible for active show mares. With the proximity to this multi-breed reproductive service hub, Anna Marie saw the possibilities of what our community could do to start doing things differently to solve the problems of increasing breeding numbers, improving small and local breeding operations, strengthening prize programs across the country, and becoming more personally involved in horse dealings.

She is thrilled with the dynamics of the Registry Council and the member’s commitment to being a working group. Every member’s enthusiasm for volunteering and getting involved with their areas of expertise on Registry programs will allow them to make a great impact for the benefit of our breeders and the future of the American Saddlebred. Anna Marie looks forward to working with the Registry Council to improve ASHBA Registry Services and help strengthen our regional breeding operations and state prize programs.

Our Registry Council Chair was selected by the members of the Registry Council to preside over the meetings of the Registry Council and appoint the members of the committees of the Registry Council. In addition to these Registry functions, the Registry Council Chair will serve on the Executive Leadership Committee, Finance Committee, and be a new officer position of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA).

The Registry Council of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) formed upon the merger of the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) and the American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) in February 2021. This council is made up of members from the Board of Directors and will oversee functions of the registry, registry focused committees and the Registry Trust.
