ASHBA Announces Expanded Youth Programming

ASHBA is pleased to announce the expansion of its youth programming in 2022.  With special thanks to a generous donation from Sally Jackson, ASHBA has targeted six shows to host Horsin’ Around with Ellen Beard camps and Junior Judging competitions. In addition, ASHBA will send “Junior Judging in a Box” to 14 more shows, providing shows the materials and prizes necessary to run their own program. The shows Ellen will attend include Shenandoah Classic, Lexington Junior League, World’s Championship Horse Show, St. Louis Charity, Ocala International and the National Academy Championship Horse Show.

ASHBA piloted its first extremely successful Horsin’ Around with Ellen Beard camp at Lexington Junior League last year, followed up by another camp at the World’s Championship Horse Show. While activities can vary from show to show, each camp features lessons in breed history and horsemanship. These fun and interactive camps are mainly for children ages 7-12.

“I would like to thank Sally for her generous donation and continued support of youth in our industry. Her donation allows us to expand our programming and engage our youth with the goal of making them lifelong American Saddlebred enthusiasts”, said David Mount, ASHBA Executive Director.

We thank Sally not only for her current support, but also for her future intent to back these programs. “That is how much I believe in the ASHBA and our future is in our youth,” said Sally.  “Let’s don't hold back but instead give them the very best, most entertaining, educational, and inspiring program possible.”

ASHBA cannot wait to offer up the best year yet for the American Saddlebred youth community!
