ASHBA Board Spotlight Q & A with Kristen Bagdasarian

Name: Kristen Bagdasarian

Location: Versailles, Kentucky

How did you get started with the American Saddlebred? I was fortunate to have been born into a family of horse lovers and this breed. My parents wanted a horse shortly after getting married. They ended up buying a Morgan but quickly fell in love with Saddlebreds and found themselves owning a small public barn.

What is your involvement with the American Saddlebred currently? I own and operate Diamond View Farm in Versailles Ky. We are a large breeding and training farm. 

Why are you passionate about serving on the ASHBA board? I am passionate about everything to do with Saddlebreds and ASHBA is the driving force behind our breed. I am excited about the recent merger and all we are doing for the industry. 

What committees/councils/initiatives at the ASHBA will be or are you serving on as board member? I have and currently serve on the Operations, Stallion Sweeps and Convention committees. 

What other industry boards &/or committees have you served before? Outside of ASHBA, I have served as the UPHA Chapter 9 (KY) Chair for two years, chair of the Kentucky Fall Classic Horse Show.

What is your vision for bettering the breed through serving on the ASHBA board? I think we have taken a huge step in bettering ASHBA when we merged ASHA with the registry (ASR). We are running with so much more efficiency and intent than ever before! 

What are the top three challenges you believe the ASHBA Board should be working on? Increasing registration numbers, membership numbers, and the promotion of our breed.  

What is one thing most people don’t know about you that you’d like to share? I am the youngest exhibitor to have shown at World’s Championship Horse Show when I showed in walk and trot as a 4 year old.
