ASHBA Helps Dr. Scott Bennett Equine Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Become Endowment at Ohio State University

The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) is proud to support the legacy of the esteemed Dr. Scott Bennett. ASHBA has joined the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine and many in the breed community to create the Dr. Scott Bennett Equine Veterinary Endowment. ASHBA is honored to take this opportunity to invest $25,000 in the future medical professionals that will help have an everlasting impact on our breed, like Dr. Bennett.

“In honoring Dr. Bennett we are also investing in our industry by ensuring that we have qualified veterinarians to take care of our horses in the future," said David Mount, ASHBA Executive Director.

"The fund will be formally established as an endowment fund at the next Ohio State Board of Trustee's meeting. As a full endowment, this means that our scholarship fund will begin generating an annual distribution to be used as a scholarship, ensuring Scott's legacy in the Equine Veterinary profession forever. This milestone could not have been reached without your generous support, and we thank you!" shares the Ohio State University Office of Advancement.

Since the passing of this remarkable veterinarian and lover of the American Saddlebred, his friends, family and peers have worked diligently to develop a robust scholarship fund to honor Dr. Bennett's contributions to the field of veterinary medicine and the equine industry. With the establishment of his memorial scholarship already, they have been able to aid the fourth-year veterinary medicine students in their pursuit to continue their education and pursue becoming board certified equine surgeons.

"The contributions of Dr. Scott Bennett DVM to the American Saddlebred horse are beyond words as his expertise, talents, and appreciation of these great horses gave so much to their health, performance, and breeding techniques," said Anna Marie Knipp, ASHBA President. "Scott remains a legend, and the ASHBA is pleased to participate in this scholarship as a memory of his many contributions to these equines and all the breeds he touched."

ASHBA looks forward to seeing our commitment to the future of the welfare of the American Saddlebred and advancement of veterinary care honor Dr. Scott Bennett and his dedication to making a better future for the equine industry.
