ASHBA Youth Council Roster Announced

The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) is pleased to announce the individuals selected to the Youth Council. The Youth Council is an initiative to foster future leaders in the American Saddlebred industry. The mission of the Youth Council is to “Advance youth within the sport through leadership and education of the industry.”

The Youth Council includes:

Ellie Brown (Texas)

Alexa Dahl (Florida)

Harrison Goode (North Carolina)

Caroline Katko (Kentucky)

Maggie Keith (Kentucky)

Kendall Kelledy (California)

Connor Koch (Georgia)

Kaya MacLeod (Missouri)

Grace Markel (Missouri)

Elizabeth Marshall (North Carolina)

Sutton Paulsen (Iowa)

Katie Rich (Texas)

Izzy Richman (North Carolina)

Jaqueline Schatzberg (Arizona)

“This group was chosen due to their diverse background and multidisciplinary history,” says ASHBA board member Clif Paulsen. “They have the opportunity to guide and make the youth council what it is going to be for future generations. This council will give our youth a voice and let them help make the decisions that will be best for young people that come behind them.”

The Youth Council will be tasked with regional education, engagement and promotion. This important position will have a non-voting seat on the Board of Directors, and be heavily involved in the planning of the Youth Conference held each year on President’s Day Weekend. In 2023, the Youth Conference will be held in conjunction with the rejuvenated ASHBA Convention.

“Creating the Youth Council brings together a panel of accomplished youth leaders from varying geographical areas and differing competition experience,” says Ellen Beard. “Commonly, the American Saddlebred has influenced their life and we want to hear their perspective on that influence, and how to preserve this for the future.”
