New Fun and Interactive Youth Program To Be Piloted at Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) is proud to partner with esteemed horsewoman Ellen Beard on a fun and exciting new youth program.  This new program, Horsin’ Around with Ellen, will bring fun educational activities to popular horse shows for children ages 7-12.

Ellen Beard, of Success in Saddles, is an esteemed equitation instructor and trainer.  Her background as a trainer, instructor and US Equestrian judge, combined with her years of managing high profile committees such as the United States Saddle Seat World Cup, US Equestrian Saddle Seat Equitation Committees and the UPHA Exceptional Challenge Cup Committee, give her a unique prospective on the industry and a desire to foster the next generations of horsemen and horsewomen. Beard’s passions include educating equestrian professionals and working with children. With this new program, Beard said, “we have an opportunity with these events to introduce our breed history and culture in a fun and interactive way.”

Now with ASHBA, Beard is excited to reach the next generation of horseman and horsewomen. The new and inclusive program will focus on critical horsemanship skills, breed history and FUN--whether kids are active in the show ring or simply attending to watch family or friends!

Beard enjoys working with young horsemen and women and said, “Youth are our future. We spend so much time as professionals teaching them the mechanics of our sport. We have an opportunity with these events to introduce our breed history and culture in a fun and interactive way.”

Activities vary from event to event but can include crafts, horseless horse shows, making horse treats and so much more!

Horsin’ Around with Ellen will be held at Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show on Tuesday, July 13th and Wednesday, July 14th. Both sessions will be held at 10 AM in the covered area under the horse show office.  Space is limited and advanced registration is encouraged.
