Staff Spotlight: Elizabeth Pierson

Elizabeth Pierson, better known as Liz, is the Senior Registrations Associate for the American Saddlebred Registry. Liz has been an integral part of the team for the last five years. Since joining the ASR, Liz has worked as an associate clerk in transfers and now enjoys helping with registrations. What she loves most about her role is seeing the new babies that are the future of our breed and connecting with the people who love the American Saddlebred.

Liz comes to the organization from a lifetime of involvement with the American Saddlebred breed and community. Her love for the breed began as a child, after learning to ride and being drawn to our elegant breed she started competing and found much success in the equitation division. Her dedication to the breed and industry continued as she chose to attend William Woods for two years to stay involved with the American Saddlebred.  Liz went on to work as horse trainer for 20 plus years, helping create champion teams across the country. What Liz loves most about the American Saddlebred is their personality, intelligence, courage and athleticism.

Liz now resides in Lexington, KY but New Canaan, CT will always be home. She has a bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University and a law degree from University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.  Throughout her life, she has also lived in California, New York, Missouri, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. While a friend to many in the Saddlebred world, one thing most people might now know about her is that she has a law degree and is fascinated with case-law and how the legal process functions. As Liz shares, it can be a great form of entertainment because “the law is all about the crazy things people do to get themselves in trouble.” In her spare time, she enjoys horses, dogs, reading legal cases, painting and keeping up with the growing family of her two beloved now adult stepdaughters who make their home in Atlanta.
