In all this grand show hosted over 30 classes for the hunter and western disciplines and saw just under 300 entries compete in these divisions.

You can definitely “Meet American Saddlebred Hunters in St. Louis”! The American Saddlebred Registry made a strong partner in hosting the ASR Four Year Old Sweepstakes at the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show. In 2019 alone, there were over 160 entries for 13 classes for American Saddlebreds in the hunt seat discipline. From Hunter Country Pleasure Prospect to Saddle & Bridle Working Hunter Classic to a .90 Jumper Stake there was something for everyone. The inaugural ASR Hunter Sweepstakes saw five strong entries compete and represent the breed well! The ASR is thankful to all the breeders, trainers and exhibitors who have supported this program and only hope to see it grow in the coming years! With an average of 13 entries per class at St. Louis, we are excited to see the opportunities the increased inclusion of this discipline will continue to afford our industry.

The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) congratulates our 2019 ASHA National Pleasure Equitation Finals Champion Reagan Webb and her nine year old American Saddlebred mare She’s In Charge, pictured below. Webb bested a strong field of 12 top pleasure equitation entries to take home the unanimous victory. Erin Boggs of Cape Cod Equestrian Center in Spring Valley, OH does the training and instructing for this winning team. ASHA is proud of the history of what the ASHA Finals bring to the Pleasure Equitation and American Saddlebred community and awards a $1,000 scholarship to this year’s winner. The Western divisions saw over 100 entries come from across the country to support over ten excellent classes this year at St. Louis. From AOT to the two Saddle & Bridle Finals top quality American Saddlebred western horses kept the tradition alive and made great showings to the always-appreciative St. Louis crowd. In addition to the competition, the show management worked to provide a mini clinic during the show from course designer Robert Dehn.

We are proud to see the diversity and versatility represented by our great breed grow every year at this wonderful show.
