American Saddlebred Museum New Exhibition: James L. Crow

The American Saddlebred Museum is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit:  James L. Crow.  One of the great equine artists, James L. Crow (American, 1933-2020) had an artistic career that spanned over 40 years.  Crow worked from both live studies and his own photographs to create his images.  His knowledge of and respect for the horse is easily seen in each work.

This exhibition features the works that are in the American Saddlebred Museum’s permanent collection. The recent gift of eight works from the Crow family, in memory of their father, has helped to diversify the collection.  It shows the development of Crow’s work, from early paintings in the 1980s, to his later works in the 2000s.  Additionally, this group of paintings exemplifies his artistic mastery of many techniques including charcoal, watercolor and oil painting.

The American Saddlebred Museum is located at 4083 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511, inside the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park.

Current operating hours are:  Wednesday – Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , Closed Monday – Tuesday.
