Breeder Spotlight: Randy Street

Randy Street of Green Mountain, NC, has been breeding Saddlebreds for over 30 years. A familiar face at the Tennessee Futurity classes, he raises two to three foals annually from his band of five mares and stands a homebred stallion, Deeper Shade of Wool.
Randy’s passion began at age 19 when he attended a show with his uncle and was instantly captivated by the Saddlebreds in competition. Just a few years later, he started breeding his own horses. One of his proudest moments came in 2024, when Miss Moira Rose (Walterway’s Wild & Wooly x Milady Isabelle), a filly he raised, was named Reserve World Champion in the Fine Harness Mare Stake.
Over the years, Randy has learned that quality mares with good minds are essential—he believes the mare contributes up to 75% of a foal’s potential, particularly when it comes to intelligence and talent. A dedicated student of Saddlebred bloodlines, Randy has built a reputation for producing well-bred, marketable foals—an achievement he humbly describes as “pretty good for an amateur backyard breeder!”
His lifelong dedication to the American Saddlebred continues to inspire those who value passion, patience, and purpose in horse breeding.
