American Saddlebred Registry Announces the ASR Four-Year-Old Hunter Sweepstakes; Nominations due August 1, 2018
The American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) and the ASR Sweepstakes Committee are pleased to announce the addition of the ASR Four-Year-Old Hunter Sweepstakes.
Beginning in 2019, the ASR Four-Year-Old Hunter Sweepstakes class will be held at the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show in Lake Saint Louis, MO. This class will be for American Saddlebreds that have been nominated to the ASR Four-Year-Old Hunter Sweepstakes in their three-year-old year to be shown in their four-year-old year.
Three-year-olds (foaled in 2015) may be nominated for $250 by August 1, 2018. Nomination forms and rules may be downloaded from the ASR Sweepstakes page on the ASHA website.
Nominated horses for this class may be shown by an amateur or professional and will be shown at a walk, trot, extended trot, canter and extended canter both ways of the ring. Entries must be asked both ways of the ring to halt and stand quietly on the rail. To be judged on suitability as a Hunter, manners, performance, conformation, and quality. In the line, horses must stand quietly with all four legs perpendicular to the ground. Horses shall be required to back readily in the line. Entries are to be stripped.
The nomination money paid into the Hunter Sweepstakes will remain with that program to be paid out (plus interest, minus expenses) in the following manner: The first place winner will receive 40% of the purse; second place 30%; third place 20%; fourth place 5%; and fifth place 5%. The person who is the recorded owner at the time of the competition will receive one-half of the purse; the persons who were owners of record at the time each nomination payment was made will receive equal shares of the remaining one-half of the purse. The total purse for each year will be paid, regardless of the number shown.
