The American Saddlebred World Loses Chaudion Womble

Chaudion Womble, 71, of Chattanooga passed away December 8th at a local hospital. Womble grew up in Flintstone, Georgia, where he learned to train American Saddlebreds with his father and brothers, including Eddie B. Womble and Jimmy Womble.

Following his service in the Vietnam War he returned to the Chattanooga area where he led a lifelong career as an award-winning trainer at Mountain Shadows Stables in Flintstone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Shropshire Womble and Lee Andrew Womble. He leaves his wife of 49 years, Rochelle; two sons, Shannon (Teresa) and Bernard (Robin); six siblings, Kathryn, Jimmy (Arzilla), Eddie B. (Marie), Gwen (James), Andrew (Seleste) and Sheldia Ann (Michael); three grandchildren, two god-grandchildren; two aunts and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

The body will lie-in-state after noon and the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, December 14 in the John P. Franklin Funeral Home chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday December 15 at Olivet Baptist Church.
