ASHA #SaddlebredSaturday Horse Show Spotlight- Midwest Un-Fair Horse Show

The 2020 Un-Fair Horse Show took over ASHA Instagram and Facebook stories (available here) this past #SaddlebredSaturday. This innovative show was held August 14-16 in Waterloo, Iowa at the National Cattle Congress Hippodrome. The theme was “Horse Show on a Stick,” and while it isn’t a State Fair, show management planned to have a weekend full of fair fun!

It was a weekend full of not just great fun, but strong competition in classes for Saddlebreds, Morgans, Hackney Ponies, Shetland Ponies, Friesian and open breed classes as well as the Saddleseat Equitation and Open classes. Very special to us at the ASHA was the first classes to be offered for the Saddlebred Ranch horse. We saw great support for this new division ASHA is submitting to be added to our USEF breed rule book.  In addition to the traditional classes, the schedule had a great group of fun and innovative classes, including First Time Off-the-Farm, Pro/Am, Egg & Spoon, and even a Showmanship Refresher Clinic. One of the big highlights for all was the special spotlight victory passes featured on Friday and Saturday evening classes. With more than 140 classes in the schedule, there’s was something fun for everyone.

The Un-Fair Horse Show not only made every effort to capitalize on all the fun that can be had at a horse show, but also was a show that dedicated a concerted effort to support two areas of great opportunity for the American Saddlebred, Amateur Owner Trainers and youth. ASHA was thrilled to hear from many AOT exhibitors from the show why they love training their own horses and how it is important for strengthening the breed. We are grateful to all these dedicated American Saddlebred lovers who took time to share their Saddlebred Story.

The 2020 Un-Fair Horse Show was hosted by The Jerald Sulky Company, Cedar Valley Veterinary Clinic, The Scoop Feed & Supply, and all the appreciated sponsors.
