ASHA Thanks All BreyerFest Participants

The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) is grateful to all who participated in the BreyerFest Celebration on July 13-15 at the Kentucky Horse Park. Daily breed demonstrations were held in the covered arena.

The colorful Pinto Paddyngton’s Mark Of Distinction and owner/rider Holly Armstrong represented the American Saddlebred  in full parade attire to thunderous applause  for two  of the three performances. The eye-catching pair also served as flag bearers for the Friday and Saturday night sessions of the Lexington Junior League Horse Show which ran concurrently with BreyerFest. The BreyerFest crowd received a thrill during the Saturday event when trainer Lionel Ferreira of Monnington Farm burst into the demonstration ring on the 2015 Five-Gaited World’s Grand Champion Marc Of Charm.  The crowd hooped and hollered as Marc Of Charm trotted and racked his way around the ring. Richfield Video was there to record the event for Marc Of Charm’s owner Carolyn Koch of Riverdreams LLC who graciously shared the now retired sire of multiple world’s champions with the enthusiastic crowd. The current Hackney Pony World’s Grand Champion Heartland High Tech was exhibited by Ali DeGray for owner Helen Rich, and trainers Rich and Maureen Campbell of Majestic Oaks. During each of her two exhibitions Ali selected a lucky child from the crowd to join her in the buggy for a trip around the arena. She then invited  fans of  Heartland High Tech back to his stabling area for a meet and greet with the 17-year-old stallion. ASHA is grateful to these owners, trainers and exhibitors for taking time from their busy horse show schedules to present and promote show horses and ponies to the thousands of BreyerFest attendees.

ASHA also manned a tent in the Breyerfest outdoor vendor area. ASHA, the American Saddlebred Museum and the United Professional Horsemen’s Association provided posters, coloring books, informational pamphlets, and postcards that were handed out to the crowds. With the extreme heat, the souvenir fans printed with an image of Marc Of Charm,  provided by Carolyn Koch, were a huge hit.

A team of  hard working volunteers was on hand to answer questions, pass out the promotional items and promote the show horse breeds.  ASHA extends a big thank you to Rose Wells, Misty and Cassidy Buchanan, Hannah Teutsch and Hailey Stantz for their time and enthusiastic efforts in the tent.
