ASHA Welcomes Britney Gavenonis as New Development Director

The ASHA is pleased to announce that Britney Gavenonis has accepted the role of Development Director. The ASHA is thrilled to have Gavenonis join our team and contribute to the continued advancement of the ASHA. We are immensely grateful to the generosity of a private supporter that has helped create this position to further the strengthening of our organization to serve the American Saddlebred breed and community. This new position will play a key role in pursuing grants, expansion of corporate sponsors, donor engagement, special events, fundraising and more. 

Gavenonis comes to the ASHA with a wealth of experience from both the equine and business industry. Most recently, she has led initiatives for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. In her time there, she played a key role in the management and development of their multi-million dollar Standardbred incentive fund, Fayette Fest at the Red Mile and the Kentucky State Sire Stakes Championship for Standardbred harness racing, the integration of the state county fair racing program and expansion of the county fair racing circuit in 2020.  

A lifelong equestrian Gavenonis developed her skills through the Lexington 4-H program and Keeneland Pony Club. Through these programs, she found her love and talent for eventing. She proudly closed out her juvenile equestrian career advancing to C-3 level in eventing before going off to college. In addition to eventing, she has worked with several thoroughbred racing and breeding operations to prep horses for the prestigious Keeneland and Fasig Tipton Sales along with investing in thoroughbreds for both on and off the track careers. Gavenonis also is a part-time instructor at Champagne Run in Lexington, Kentucky. This large riding program specializes in hunt seat, combined training and dressage.

 “I love working in the equine industry and I'm happy to join the American Saddlebred Horse Association. I have a lifelong goal of buying my own farm, teaching my kids how to ride, riding again and teaching other kids how to ride as well. I think all kids should experience the dedication, hard work and skills that being involved and around horses can teach” shares Gavenonis. 

Gavenonis is a proud native of Lexington, Kentucky. She has attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with a minor in Business from the University of Kentucky. She is the proud mother to two children, Anne and Leo, and a Doberman Pinscher named Ryder! When she isn’t dedicating herself to her equine interest and being a mother, she enjoys snow skiing!
