Thursday, January 6

2:00-3:30 PM ASHBA Annual Membership Meeting

The 2022 Annual Membership Meeting of the American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association, Inc., a Kentucky nonprofit corporation (ASHBA), has been scheduled by the Board of Directors for Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time (EST) during the UPHA National Conference in Orlando, Florida. Video of the meeting will be available at Richfield Video Productions for both subscribers and non-subscribers. 

The following matters will be voted upon by eligible members of ASHBA at the 2022 Annual Meeting:

    The election of two (2) members of the Nominating Committee for the Board of Directors of ASHBA; and Such other matters as may properly come before the members at the 2022 Annual Meeting. 

The Board of Directors of ASHBA solicits your nominations for the Nominating Committee for the Board of Directors.  Nominations can be sent by email to d.mount@asha.net or by mail to 4083 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511.  Nominations must be submitted not later than 5 PM EST on Tuesday, January 4.  Individuals who are not members in good standing on Tuesday, January 4 will not be able to participate in the meeting or vote.  

3:30-5:00 PM - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: the benefits to ASHBA's Business and Future

Join ASHBA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and Rita Holmes-Bobo, Certified Diversity Executive, for a discussion on how our community can better strive to meet our strategic goal of being more welcoming.

Rita Holmes-Bobo

Rita currently serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Robins Kaplan Law Firm.

Prior to her current role she served as the Director of Diversity for a mid-west law firm where she collaborated with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee to achieve DEI strategic plan goals. Additionally, she participated in client meetings, pitches and events to facilitate greater diversity and inclusion in the legal field.

She has also served as the Executive Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for a 1,500-employee, five-state behavioral healthcare/child welfare leader. In this role she launched the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion function providing leadership to all related programs and initiatives.

Join the great breeding minds from the ASHBA Registry Council and their guests as they discuss the opportunities, advancements, and challenges facing the American Saddlebred breeding industry. With registry trends from multiple trotting breeds and their leaders this will be a dynamic breeding discussion unlike anything we’ve offered before. Whether you are breeding horses every year or just considering breeding for your first foal this is a discussion you won’t want to miss. 12:00 – 1:45 PM ASHBA Awards Luncheon

The ASHBA is thrilled to be on hand to recognize nearly 200 individuals for their accomplishments and contributions to the American Saddlebred at the 2022 UPHA National Conference in Orlando, Florida. ASHBA will honor several of our Major Award Winners, National High Point, Breed Ambassador and Sport Horse Award recipients. The ASHBA awards program recognizes our members and remarkable horses in over 33 different divisions and/or disciplines. Links to the 2021 members and horses being honored are provided below. We can’t wait to celebrate together all the #asbdreams that came true during the 2021 competition season. All regional high point winners will be recognized through our ASHBA Charter Clubs later this year.
