From the Desk of Marty Schaffel: The Challenge to Communicate
The impeachment proceedings for the President of the United States is a monumental issue for our nation right now. Yet a recent poll showed only 21 percent of those polled said they were following the impeachment inquiry. That means 79 percent of the population are not informed about this historic situation.
Over the past few months ASHA has tried to heavily communicate to our membership and bring everyone up to speed on all the pertinent issues. We have tried to bring understanding where there might be chaos or confusion.
In today’s world, we are all bombarded with information during our busy days. Therefore, we have a huge challenge to communicate. When only 21 percent of the American population is following the impeachment inquiry, I am concerned that getting the messages to ASHA membership is equally or even less effective!
I hope our communication plan and efforts are making a difference for everyone. We went from minimal messaging to aggressively communicating. We have one goal: to help everyone stay informed. Now we need to find the right balance of frequency in what we send out.
We try to keep it interesting and informative. And so, we have a challenge to communicate. We would appreciate your input as we try and get this right.
Thank you.
Marty Schaffel, ASHA Interim President
