From the Desk of Marty Schaffel: Our To-Do List
Recently I’ve spoken of our mission of working towards the betterment of the association for the future of the American Saddlebred and our members with our commitment to building something great, focusing on reinventing ourselves, and our devotion to making progress. So, what are some of the things ASHA is working on right now?
- Trying to broaden and strengthen under-represented areas and markets. We have too many areas that are losing the critical mass to have shows and create great experiences for our members.
Creating the appropriate committees and assigning staff liaisons to these committees to address the needs and solve the problems of our members.
Building our programs. The recent massive success of the ASHA Youth Conference is a good example
Working together with the ASR board to find the best way to resolve any pending issues and problems. We have a combined meeting of both boards scheduled for March 29th to evaluate options for this.
Revisiting and updating our strategic plan. This is our GPS for what we need to focus on.
Evaluating our existing system for nominating board members and officers.
Bringing forward programs to assist those who make their living in this market be financially stronger and more successful
Develop succession plans for officers and staff of ASHA so we can have smooth continuity
Developing new sponsorship programs for entities outside of our usual circle of donors
Finding better ways to communicate to and educate our members
This is a list of just some of what we are trying to accomplish right now. The full list is quite long. But I hope this helps everyone understand what your volunteers from our association are doing and working with our staff to perfect these initiatives. We welcome everyone’s help.
