From the Desk of Marty Schaffel: What a Wonderful World

I woke up this morning in Shelbyville, Kentucky to crisp cool air and a warm and sunny sky. I marveled at how green and beautiful everything on the farm was.  And then the following song came on the radio with Louis Armstrong singing.

"What A Wonderful World"

I see trees of green Red roses too I see them bloom For me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world I see skies of blue And clouds of white The bright blessed day The dark sacred night And I think to myself What a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow So pretty in the sky Are also on the faces Of people going by I see friends shaking hands Saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying "I love you" I hear babies cry I watch them grow They'll learn much more Than I'll never know And I think to myself What a wonderful world Yes, I think to myself What a wonderful world

We may need to change the lyrics to “friends shaking elbows” but isn’t this not the beauty of a horse show?  Especially in the spring and early summer?

We have great shows happening this week. We have had several already.  And people are saying they are glad to be back together again. And having fun.

We have sadly been challenged by social unrest, Corona virus and economic misfortune.  And these are very difficult situations for everyone.

But for a few brief days, let’s come together at a horse show and enjoy what still makes this planet Earth a wonderful world.
