February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized Dr. John and Bridget Cummins as the 2025 recipients of the Breeder of the Year Award, presented by Kristen Bagdasarian at the Major Awards Ceremony during the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention.

The Breeder of the Year Award honors individuals whose dedication, expertise, and vision have made a lasting impact on the American Saddlebred breed. John and Bridget Cummins have built a respected and accomplished breeding program defined by quality, athleticism, and generational success.

Dr. Cummins, a veterinarian from Lexington, Kentucky, grew up breeding and owning Standardbreds, producing multiple champions and record-setting horses. Bridget, an attorney from Texas, has been involved in breeding and showing Saddlebreds throughout her life. Together, they have produced outstanding American Saddlebreds, including WCC WC Tua, WCC WC Aight, RWC Some Girl, and WCC WC Brick House. A notable milestone was the induction of their mare, HS A Faithful Lady, into the Broodmare Hall of Fame.

Their success extends across disciplines, with championship Standardbreds such as The Big Dog, CA Connection, and She’s A Great Lady earning significant accolades and setting performance records. Across generations, the Cummins program reflects thoughtful breeding, careful management, and a commitment to excellence.

“John and Bridget’s program represents the kind of long-term vision and dedication that strengthens our breed,” said Smith Lilly, Immediate Past President of ASHBA. “Their contributions continue to shape the future of the American Saddlebred.”

Through passion, expertise, and sustained achievement, Dr. John and Bridget Cummins stand as deserving recipients of the Breeder of the Year Award.
