Dr. Owen Weaver Receives Meritorious Service Award

February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized Dr. Owen Weaver as the 2025 recipient of the Meritorious Service Award, presented by Chris Schubert at the Major Awards Ceremony during the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention.
The Meritorious Service Award honors individuals whose long-term commitment and leadership have made a significant impact on the Association and the American Saddlebred community. Dr. Weaver’s decades of involvement reflect dedicated service at nearly every level of the industry.
A member of the American Saddlebred Breeders Association since 1996, Weaver continued the legacy of her parents, Lynn and Peter Via, founders of Fox Grape Farm. Through that program, the farm produced numerous accomplished horses, including Callaway’s Forecaster, My Chanel, Sunforest, and Fox Grape’s Tudor Rose, contributing meaningfully to the breed’s success.
Beyond breeding, Weaver has served extensively in leadership roles, including on the Roanoke Valley Horse Show board, as Vice President of the American Saddlebred Museum, four years as UPHA President, and on both the ASHBA Board and Registry Board. She has also served as secretary on both boards and contributed to numerous committees, consistently focused on strengthening the long-term future of the breed.
“Dr. Weaver’s dedication reflects the very purpose of this award,” said Smith Lilly, Immediate Past President of ASHBA. “Her leadership, service, and steadfast commitment have strengthened this Association and the American Saddlebred community for many years.”
Through sustained leadership and service, Dr. Owen Weaver stands as a deserving recipient of the Meritorious Service Award.
