February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized Harlem’s Savoy as the 2025 Emerging Sport Horse of the Year, presented by Sandra Currier at the Major Awards Ceremony during the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention.

The Emerging Sport Horse of the Year Award honors a young horse who demonstrates exceptional talent, versatility, and future promise within the sport horse discipline. This year’s recipient, Harlem’s Savoy, owned by Jean Mutrux, has quickly distinguished himself as a rising talent.

Purchased in 2024 as an unbroke four-year-old, Harlem’s Savoy immediately impressed with his natural athleticism, balance, and presence. After just weeks of training, he entered competition and, within six weeks of his first ride, captured his first class win at the Sunrise Hunter Challenge. He continued his success throughout the season, ultimately earning National Champion honors.

Since then, he has transitioned seamlessly into rated horse trials, earning ribbons in dressage and further validating the early promise that marked his introduction to the sport. His adaptability, willingness, and steady progression reflect the qualities this award is designed to recognize.

“Emerging horses like Harlem’s Savoy represent the future strength and versatility of our breed,” said Smith Lilly, Immediate Past President of ASHBA. “His early success speaks to both his natural ability and the thoughtful development guiding his path.”

Through talent, trainability, and impressive early achievements, Harlem’s Savoy stands as a fitting recipient of the Emerging Sport Horse of the Year recognition.
