February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized Jennifer Dixon as the 2025 Council Chair of the Year, presented at the Saddlebred Celebrations Luncheon during the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention.

The Council Chair of the Year Award honors a leader whose service strengthens the Association not through visibility, but through responsibility. This distinction recognizes disciplined leadership, principled decision making, and a willingness to take on work that is essential to the organization’s integrity and long-term success.

Dixon was selected for her outstanding leadership as Chair of the Governance Council, where she guided the group through some of the most complex and consequential work facing the Association. Under her direction, the council met frequently and tackled critical initiatives with clarity, professionalism, and respect, ensuring thoughtful discussion and steady progress on issues that directly affect the structure and future of the organization.

During her tenure, the Governance Council conducted a comprehensive review and modernization of governing documents, strengthening language, improving structure, and aligning policies with best practices. She also led efforts to overhaul election and nominating processes, transforming them into systems that are clearer, more transparent, and more credible for members and leadership alike.

“Jennifer’s leadership reflects the kind of steady, intentional commitment that shapes institutions,” said Smith Lilly, Immediate Past President of ASHBA, who presented the award. “She took on complex work, guided important conversations, and delivered results that will benefit this Association for years to come.”

Her service represents leadership at its most impactful: thoughtful, disciplined, and focused on building a stronger foundation for the future. Through her efforts, the Association is better positioned to serve its members, uphold its standards, and continue advancing the American Saddlebred.
