Katriona Adams Named Registrar

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) is proud to announce Katriona Adams as our Registrar.

“I feel privileged to have been offered the position of Registrar and am excited to be playing a more prominent role at this notable time.  We have excellent, hardworking and knowledgeable staff and wonderful volunteer leadership,” Katriona Adams

Katriona has been a dedicated member of the registry services team serving as our past interim registrar and as Assistant Registar for several years and has worked closely with Registry Presidents and Boards of Directors.  She has served as staff liaison to several committees including the registry, sport horse, pleasure disciplines and standards and rules committees and has managed board projects.  She managed the transition of Equine Parentage DNA testing to the Veterinary Genetics Lab, UC Davis, California, in 2008.  She has managed all DNA related matters, the ASR Sport Horse Programs and reviewed registration certificates for accuracy and compliance with the rules.  She helped implement the ASHA Judges Clinic Program.

Katriona has been with the American Saddlebred Registry for almost 15 years.  She comes to the organization with over thirty years of service in the equestrian community, ten of which were in managerial roles.  Originally, from County Kerry, Ireland, she immigrated to the United States in 1990 and worked at the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) for nine years in New York. When they relocated to the Kentucky Horse Park, Katriona followed and eventually took a position with the American Saddlebred Registry in 2006.

Born and raised in Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland, she also enjoyed living in Dublin for five years before moving stateside. In her spare time, Katriona loves to go on walks. What many do not know about her is that she enjoys studying metaphysics and ancient civilizations.

“We are thrilled to have Katriona Adams taking on the role of Registrar permanently. Her dedication to the Registry for the past 15 years and the innovation she exhibited in her recent role as the Interim-Registrar will continue to help us build into the association we strive to be for our members and the American Saddlebred,” David Mount, Executive Director.
