February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized May Chadick and Helen Roy as the 2025 Committee Chairs of the Year, presented at the Saddlebred Celebrations Luncheon during the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention.

The Committee Chair of the Year Award honors leadership that strengthens the Association through consistent service, thoughtful problem solving, and measurable impact. Chadick and Roy were selected for their exceptional stewardship of the charter club network, widely recognized as the grassroots foundation of the American Saddlebred community.

Throughout the year, they demonstrated a rare combination of responsiveness, strategic thinking, and genuine care for members. They developed a comprehensive resource guide that provides charter clubs with clearer tools, direction, and operational support, while also investing significant time in direct communication with club leaders to troubleshoot challenges, answer questions, and help local organizations move forward with confidence.

Under their leadership, communication across the charter club system increased significantly, and their work contributed directly to meaningful organizational growth, including helping expand the number of active charter clubs to 30.

“May and Helen lead with dedication, integrity, and a true commitment to our members,” said Smith Lilly, Immediate Past President of ASHBA, who presented the award. “Their leadership strengthened the foundation of this Association by supporting the people and clubs who build community one member at a time.”

Their impact reflects the kind of leadership that is both practical and transformative: leadership that listens, supports, and delivers results. Through their efforts, charter clubs are stronger, better connected, and better equipped to serve their members and the breed.
