February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized Michele Macfarlane as the 2025 recipient of the VERSA Mae Condon Award during the Major Awards Ceremony at the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention. The award was presented by Jennifer Dixon and Janet Thompson.
Established by the VERSA Charter Club, the Mae Condon American Saddlebred Versatility Award honors the legacy of co-founder Mae Condon and recognizes individuals who demonstrate long-term dedication to promoting the versatility of American and Half-Saddlebred horses across multiple disciplines.
Macfarlane, of San Diego, California, has built an extraordinary record of showcasing the breed in diverse and highly visible settings. Through her celebrated calendar and Rose Parade unit featuring pinto American Saddlebreds, she has highlighted the adaptability and presence of the breed in wagons, carriages, western themes, racing presentations, and her signature silver saddle lineup.
Her outreach extends internationally, including participation in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant in 2012 before the British Royal Family, as well as exhibitions across the United States in state and national parks and New York’s Central Park. Her efforts have consistently expanded public awareness of the American Saddlebred’s versatility and elegance.
“Michele’s commitment reflects the true spirit of versatility that this award represents,” said Smith Lilly, Immediate Past President of ASHBA. “Her work has brought the American Saddlebred to audiences around the world and strengthened appreciation for the breed in meaningful ways.”
Through decades of dedication and creative promotion, Michele Macfarlane stands as a deserving recipient of the VERSA Mae Condon Award, honoring both her achievements and the legacy of versatility within the American Saddlebred community.
