National Select Series Rules Updated

ASHBA has updated the rules for its popular National Select Series, which is designed for full Saddlebreds and for Half Saddlebreds.

Most significantly, in order to allow American Saddlebreds and Half Saddlebreds to have their own championships, the two will no longer be shown in the same class, nor concurrently in the same class.
Show managers now will have the option to run Select Series and non-Select Series qualifying classes for full Saddlebreds concurrently, as long as they are in the same division (i.e. Show Pleasure). Concurrent classes will be tied separately. Select Series Saddlebred entries also will be eligible to show in their division’s championship.
Half Saddlebreds will have their own Select Series classes, and those classes qualify for either a Half Saddlebred championship class in the same division, or an open championship in the same division.
Show management must specify in their prize lists how they will run their Select Series qualifiers and championships.

Also new this year: horses must make a Select Series declaration before or at the show in which they plan to qualify. Forms are available here, as well as in show offices. As in recent years, entries only need show in one Select Series class to qualify for the ASHBA Select Series National Championships at the All American Horse Classic in Indianapolis in September.
