Nocturnal Question Heir Named Sport Horse of the Year

February 23, 2026: Lexington, KY – The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) proudly recognized Nocturnal Question Heir as the 2025 Sport Horse of the Year, presented by Smith Lilly, at the Major Awards Ceremony during the 2026 ASHBA Annual Convention.
The Sport Horse of the Year Award honors a horse whose athleticism, versatility, and performance distinguish them within the discipline. Known affectionately as “Ivy,” this 2017 American Saddlebred mare, owned by Carol Jones and bred by Tonie Schmitt, has consistently demonstrated intelligence, trainability, and competitive excellence.
From the start of her training, Ivy displayed a willing spirit and adaptability, quickly progressing in the western and trail divisions. She excelled in Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, and Ranch Rail Pleasure classes, mastering complex patterns, transitions, and obstacles with precision and style.
Her 2025 season was marked by multiple championships at the Bridlespur Kick-Off Show, Big D Charity Horse Show, Monarch Series Championship, and St. Louis National Charity Horse Show. Beyond her competitive accomplishments, Ivy serves as an ambassador for the American Saddlebred, highlighting the breed’s versatility and strong work ethic.

Through consistent achievement and exemplary presence in the ring, Nocturnal Question Heir stands as a deserving recipient of the Sport Horse of the Year recognition.
