Staff Spotlight: Allison Major

Allison Major is the American Saddlebred Registry Transfer Associate. Better known as Allie, she is on the front lines of fielding questions from new horse owners and helping process transfers for American Saddlebred buyers and sellers. Allie joined the team in September 2018 and has been a welcomed asset. When asked what she likes most about her role with ASR Allie shared, “I love hearing all the stories behind the horses I’m transferring, whether it’s someone’s first horse, or someone finally getting the horse of their dreams. I have heard so many wonderful stories throughout my time here, and it’s amazing to be a part of it.”

Allie is a lifelong equestrian. She began riding at the age of seven in the Hunter/Jumper discipline. As she grew up she began training and competing in Eventing as well, which led to her finding her true passion Dressage.  Her longtime partner through her competitive equestrian endeavors has been her OTTB Simon. This charming Thoroughbred gelding has been her loyal companion since grade school. A passion for horses has led her to be involved in many facets of the equine industry from working in Thoroughbred racing, to farm equipment sales and a little bit of everything in between.

While not an American Saddlebred enthusiast herself, she has had the pleasure to know a few wonderful Saddlebred Sport Horses. What she loves most about the breed is how athletic and versatile Saddlebreds are. To Allie, “They have such an intelligence about them, and you can tell just by looking at them that they are true athletes.”

A native of Alpharetta, Ga, Allie now makes her home in Lexington. She came to Kentucky to pursue an education at Midway University. She graduated from Midway with a Bachelor’s degree is Marketing and an Associate’s Degree in Equine Studies. While at Midway she was a member of the Dressage Team her first year. Allie spends her spare time like a true horse girl with hobbies such as riding dressage, learning about equine color genetics, and dabbling in equine art.
