Staff Spotlight: Katriona Adams

Katriona volunteering as a fortune teller at 2018 ASHA Youth Conference

Katriona Adams is the Assistant Registrar of the American Saddlebred Registry. For over a decade, Katriona has been an essential part of the Registry team. In her position, she reviews registration certificates for accuracy and compliance with the rules and assists Lisa Duncan with registry committee and board projects. In addition to these responsibilities, she manages all DNA related matters, the ASR Sport Horse Programs and helps coordinate the ASHA Judges Clinic. Katriona just celebrated her 13th anniversary with the Registry at the beginning of October. What she loves most about her roll is working with committees and with the Registry Board. Katriona shares, “I enjoy working with rules and looking for ways to improve procedures.  We have a wonderful staff and work well as a team.”

Katriona comes to the organization with over thirty years of service in the equestrian community. Originally from Kerry, Ireland, she immigrated to the United States in 1990 and worked at the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) for nine years in New York. When they relocated to the Kentucky Horse Park, Katriona followed and eventually took a position with the American Saddlebred Registry in 2006.

Born and raised in Listowel, County in Kerry, Ireland, she also enjoyed living in Dublin for five years before moving stateside. In her spare time, Katriona loves to go on walks. What many do not know about her is that she enjoys studying metaphysics and ancient civilizations.
