American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) Announces Venue Change for the 2019 Two-Year-Old Sweepstakes Classes

The American Saddlebred Registry, ASR Sweepstakes Committee and the show management of the ASHAV Horse Show are pleased to announce the relocation of the ASR Two-Year-Old Sweepstakes classes to the Virginia Horse Center, beginning in 2019. These classes will be held during the ASHAV Horse Show in Lexington, Virginia.

Yearlings (foaled in 2017) that are nominated to the 2019 Two-Year-Old Sweepstakes will be shown at this new location. The deadline to nominate is June 1 with an extended grace period deadline of June 15. Payments and nominations must be postmarked by the June 15 deadline. If the deadline is missed, nominations may be made by September 15 for $125.

Mr. Bill Wise, Sweepstakes Committee Chairman and originator of the Sweepstakes Program, stated: “I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the program since it started. Over 5 million dollars has been paid out in prize money to date, which has been generated through your nominations. Over the years, we have had to make some changes due to various circumstances and change does not come easy, but can be rewarding. We hope that those who have supported the program will continue to do so, and we welcome anyone interested in helping our breed to join us. It is a win, win program if we all work together. In addition, I want to thank our committee for their hard work and time to administer the program, as they are not compensated. They worked very hard to come to a decision as to where to relocate the classes. After much discussion and strong debate, the unanimous decision was to move the Two-Year-Sweepstakes classes to the Virginia Horse Center at the ASHAV Fall show. This program benefits the whole industry, but primarily the breeders and can continue to grow only through your support. I guarantee you will be rewarded. Let’s all work together to support our program!”
