USEF Introduces Lifetime Care Contacts to Strengthen the Safety Net for Horses
February 9, 2026: Lexington, KY – In 2026, US Equestrian introduced a new feature designed to support horses long after they leave a member’s care. Lifetime Care Contacts allow a USEF member to add themselves to a horse’s digital USEF record, indicating that they wish to be contacted if that horse ever needs financial assistance or a safe home in the future.
The goal is simple but powerful: connect horses in need with people who know them, love them, and are willing to help. Breeders, owners, athletes, trainers, and grooms often form deep bonds with the horses who shape their lives. Many want the opportunity to step in if circumstances change for those horses down the road.
This feature was created at the request of USEF members and is completely voluntary and free to use. By adding yourself as a Lifetime Care Contact, you help build a stronger, more reliable safety net for American Saddlebreds and all equine partners.
ASHBA encourages members to take advantage of this new tool and help ensure that every horse has someone looking out for them—no matter where life takes them.
