What Matters? Getting Busy Matters?
One of the greatest movies in history is The Shawshank Redemption. In this movie, there is a wonderful line that character Andy Dufresne says, "Get busy living or get busy dying." There is a very literal meaning of this simple saying that is very applicable in the current environment we live in. There is also another inference here that we can take and run with. It also has meaning to say we need to live our lives with a plan and we should not live our lives without doing anything. We need to literally “get busy.” Don’t sit around and moan about what could be. Let’s deal with what is and make a plan. We need to work for our future. ASHA and its subcommittees have chosen to look at the latter inference and run the full marathon. So many things are going on amidst the chaos and we are rising to the challenge. Today we highlight the Equine Welfare Advocacy Committee of the ASHA.
The Equine Welfare Advocacy Committee has a great opportunity for you all to learn something and donate to a great cause. At their "Spend a Day With... Auction" you can bid on some amazing one-of-a-kind opportunities like days with trainers, endurance riders, photographers, veterinarians, and business leaders within our community with proceeds going to a great cause. EWAC will use these funds to assist American Saddlebred horses in public seizures and welfare cases and grants provided to rescues helping these horses. With several active cases requiring immediate funds, this fundraiser is timely and essential to allow EWAC to continue its important work on behalf of the American Saddlebred horse.
Currently they are working with the Equine Practitioners to increase microchipping so we do not lose track of our most precious commodity, the breed we love. The relaunching of the My Meadows program gives horses that you have bred/or had in our life a forever home if it is ever needed. It is a touching way we can ensure a safety net for the special horses in our lives and I encourage you to learn more about this little known program during its relaunch.
Our EWAC is innovative and moving forward preparing for the needs of the future and the present.
What Matters. Getting Busy Living Matters.
