May 11, 2026: Lexington, KY – The ASHBA team lit up the Shelby County Fairgrounds during the KASPHA May Classic held May 6th through 9th, bringing enthusiasm, connection, and plenty of Saddlebred pride to one of the spring season’s most anticipated events.

KASPHA, a charter club of ASHBA since 1981, continues to be a driving force in the region, hosting the annual May Classic and the KASPHA Kentucky State Championship, along with the Kentuckiana Regional Academy Championship.

All week long, the ASHBA booth was a hub of activity. Members stopped by for renewals, families explored youth programs, and fans stocked up on Saddlebred merchandise. The event offered the perfect opportunity to introduce newcomers to the world of American Saddlebreds.

The Select Series Classes were a major highlight, drawing impressive entries and cheering crowds. ASHBA hosted three National Select Series events, and each one delivered standout performances.

  • Five Gaited Show Pleasure Champion: Blue Perspective with Sherry Frankel
  • Country Pleasure Champion: Kiss on the Rocks NKF with Maggie Meeks
  • Three Gaited Show Pleasure Champion: Look Over Here with Lesley Brown

These classes celebrated the dedication and passion that fuel the Saddlebred community.

The May Classic once again showcased the heart and brilliance of the American Saddlebred. ASHBA is proud to support the riders trainers, owners, and fans who keep this tradition thriving.
