June 1, 2026: Lexington, KYASHBA Junior Judging had a stellar month of May with seven Junior Judging events held across six different states. The Junior Judging in a Box program allows youth leaders and show volunteers to request a box to run Junior Judging in their area. The expansion of this program in 2026 has already yielded a total of 16 Junior Judging in a Box events with more to come this year.
The May lineup of events saw engagement from Washington, Iowa, California, Minnesota, Ohio, and Virginia.
📍 Bonnie Blue National Horse Show - Virginia
📍 Key Classic benefit Horse Show - Washington
📍 Silicon Valley Horse Show - California
📍 F.A.S.H. - Minnesota
📍 Heartland Classic - Ohio
📍 ASHAO Annual Show - Ohio
📍 Great River Benefit Horse Show – Iowa

ASHBA Youth is excited to see the growth and engagement of Junior Judges across the country and the inclusion of shows who were able to host this year with the help from volunteers requesting boxes. Don't forget, all Junior Judging participants should make sure they're an active ASHBA youth member to be eligible for the year-end Junior Judging High Point Awards!
Bonnie Blue, Key Classic, Silicon Valley, F.A.S.H, Heartland Classic, and Great River were all new hosts this year thanks to Aimee Harrell who hosted at Bonnie Blue, Richard and Shannon Hage who hosted at Key Classic, Helen Roy who hosted at Silicon Valley, Lynn Dombrowski who hosted at F.A.S.H, Kim Backlund who hosted at Heartland Classic and Avery Demuth who hosted at Great River. Kim Backlund also hosted the ASHAO Horse Show for the second year in a row with great participation!
Additional youth activities also occurred at Bonnie Blue as Aimee Harrel from ASAV Youth put together a Meet & Greet with Ali DeGray at Mercer Springs Farm where youth members were able to meet Ali and WCC Nashvegas. Avery Demuth, the Iowa Representative on the ASHBA Youth Council also hosted a Stick Horse Class at the Great River Benefit Horse Show, which was fun for all. Shannon Hage noted they set up a breed table to help educate others at the show about the American Saddlebred and highlighted that it was fun teaching the youth attendees also about the breed. Silicon Valley ribbon winners, Lily and Ellie were also able to judge center ring with official Judge Josh Greer! Lynn Dombrowski and Helen Roy also highlighted that they’re excited to include this youth program in their lineup next year at their respected horse shows!
The Junior Judging Program is generously sponsored and supported by Sally Jackson. A huge thank you to the volunteers who help make these events a reality across the country each month! Learn more about the Junior Judging program here.
